DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers Bachelor of Pharmacy course
and Master of Pharmacy courses in three specializations (Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Drug Regulatory Affairs). Department was established in 2015, Pharmacy courses are approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi. Department is well furnished Smart Class Room, Laboratories and fully ventilated Corridor. Department is equipped with high-tech instruments and well-maintained laboratories in the subjects of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and phytochemistry and Drug Regulatory Affairs for conducting first-grade research in the area of drug discovery, development and evaluation. The qualified and experienced faculty members are actively engaged in Teaching as well as Research/ Project work. The Department actively organized and participates in various health care awareness programmes, conferences, seminars, webinars, workshops etc. Pharmacy is the healthcare profession that links the health sciences with the chemical/ herbal medicine, and that will make safe use of medication. The scope of pharmacy are in academic, manufacturing, clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information. Pharmacists, therefore, are experts on drug therapy and are the primary health professionals who optimize medication use to provide patients with positive health outcomes.
B.Pharmacy (Professional Degree)
It is a four-year undergraduate programme in the field of Pharmacy education for anyone who wants to serves as Drug Control Officer, Pharmacist in hospitals, and as a manufacturing chemist in the Pharmaceutical industries. B. Pharmacy course is a professional degree course in which students study about all aspect of medicine, source of drug, rationally use of medicine, side effect of the medicines. The programme offered multiple job opportunities in both the govt as well as private sectors. Pharmacists can work especially in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture and provision of medicines.
*Total intake in B. Pharmacy programme is 60 and the admission will be through an entrance examination conducted by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES).
M.Pharm. Industrial Pharmacy (IP)
It is two-year PG program in the Department. Industrial Pharmacy examines several areas of chemical and medical research. The course material is structured in such a way as to familiarise students with the production of various pharmaceutical dosage forms, material management and various analytical techniques required to evaluate dosage form. Students who take the M. Pharm Industrial Pharmacy course will learn about a variety of pharmacy topics, including industrial operations, instrumentation, developing technologies, and diverse research approaches. Industrial Pharmacy (IP) includes manufacturing, developing, marketing, and distributing drug goods, as well as ensuring their quality, are all included in the field of industrial pharmacy.
M.Pharm. Drug Regulatory Affairs (DRA)
It is two year PG program in the Department, Drug Regulatory Affairs deals with the study of medical regulatory, drug manufacturing aspect. Regulatory affairs is a profession developed from the desire of governments to protect public health by controlling the safety and efficacy of products in areas including pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicines, medical devices, pesticides, agrochemicals, cosmetics and complementary medicines for improving safety profile of the drug, testing, manufacture and marketing of these products wanting to ensure that they supply products that are safe and make a worthwhile contribution to public health and welfare. A new class of professionals emerged to handle this regulatory profile for companies. Scope of Regulatory affairs in Industries: Regulatory affairs professionals are employed in industry, government regulatory authorities and academics. The wide range of regulatory professionals includes in these areas: Pharmaceuticals, Medical devices, Biologics and biotechnology, Nutraceutical products, Cosmetics, and Veterinary Products.
M.Pharm. Pharmacology
It is two year PG program in the Department. Pharmacology, branch of medicine that deals with the interaction of drugs with the systems and processes of living animals, in particular, the mechanisms of drug action as well as the therapeutic effect and other uses of the medicines. Pharmacology deals with the effects of chemical agents that have therapeutic value or with the potential toxicity on biological systems. Pharmacology is often described as a bridge science because it incorporates knowledge and skills from a number of basic science disciplines including physiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology. Pharmacologists are able to ‘translate’ such knowledge into the rational development of therapeutics and find the better way for the management of any disease. As a result of their multidisciplinary training, pharmacologists are able to offer a unique perspective in solving drug, hormone- and chemical-related problems.

The Department is offering the following program in Pharmaceutical Sciences –B.Pharm and , M. Pharm in three branches. All courses are approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
The Department has well qualified and experienced Faculty Members, well-equipped laboratories, excellent library facility and sufficient industry exposure to prepare trained manpower in the field of pharmacy. The Institute focuses on overall personality development and research exposure. We are committed to provide value based education through competitive intelligence with well defined discipline.
The Pharmacy profession has sustained a gradual transition from conventional pharmacy to technology-based pharmaceutical science. It is a four-year undergraduate programme in the field of Pharmacy education for anyone who wants to practice as a pharmacist in hospitals, as Drug Inspector, and as a manufacturing chemist in the Pharmaceutical industry. B. Pharmacy is the study of preparing and conferring drugs and medicines for several illnesses and deficiencies. This programme provides a large number of job opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Pharmacists can work especially in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture and provision of medicines. Total intake in B. Pharmacy programme is 60 and the admission will be through an entrance examination conducted by the Haryana State Board for Technical Education (HSBTE).
10+2 Examination of the Board of School Education, Bhiwani or any other Board/University, recognized by this University, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with any one of the subjects, Mathematics/ Biology/Biotechnology/computer Science securing 50% (47.50% in case of SC / ST / Blind / Visually/ Differently Abled etc. candidates) marks in the above subjects taken together. The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years at the time of Admission to the course.

Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights provides a thorough grounding in the field of Intellectual Property Law, including areas such as Copyrights, Trademarks, Patents, Trade Secretes. The programme is spread over a year and make the learner understand the impact of international and local IPR laws on the rights of traditional communities and biodiversity. Graduates from the programme are equipped for leadership positions in the Pharmaceutical software, Media, Entertainment and other technology centered industries as well as in traditional businesses to leverage IPR, such as FMCG and Engineering Conglomerates.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 2015 with M. Pharm. course in three specializations (viz. Industrial Pharmacy, Drug Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacology). The Department has engaged experienced, vibrant and well-qualified faculty involved in teaching/research supervising PG research work in the field of Phytoconstituents, Novel Drug Delivery System, Cell line studies (for anticancer activity), Synthesis of New Molecular Entities, Global Regulatory Guidelines, Drug Approval Process and Clinical Trial Studies.
Prof. D.N. Mishra, Prof. Nitin Bansal, Dr. Aakash Deep, Dr. Sanjiv Kumar and other teaching staff are involved in research on Drug Delivery, NDDS, Nanoparticles, Bioavailability enhancement, Neuro-psychopharmacology, Diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer’s Disease, Molecular Modelling, QSAR, Synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds. The faculty members have published research articles in peer reviewed journals of National and International repute with high impact factor. Three books were published by the faculty of the Department.
In future, Department is looking to offer Ph.D., in Pharmaceutical Sciences to contribute research work in the areas of national interest and thrust areas including identification and characterization of biologically active natural products, molecular interactions using in silico, in vitro and in vivo models, development of Novel Drug Delivery System for pharmaceutical active ingredients.
