The Department of Botany was established in July, 2014 with Master of Science in Botany as one the programme. The vision of the department is to develop scientific and technical capabilities to become one of the centres of excellence in Plant Sciences. The main motto of the department is to create platform for the students to impart knowledge in Plant Taxonomy, Biodiversity Characterization and Conservation, Plant Disease Control, Stress Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Biochemistry and Plant Ecology so they can efficiently serve various research organizations, industries and educational institutes. Numerous alumni from the department have achieved heights in research and teaching & qualified central and state examination like CSIR-NET, HTET, GATE etc. The department has well qualified faculty members having expertise in various subjects along with national & international patents & awards to their credit. The department possess modern infrastructure having smart classrooms with advanced facilities and well-equipped laboratories to provide an excellent environment for the multifaceted growth of students. The department focuses to enrich student’s knowledge via adopting latest teaching methodologies, interaction with subject experts and regular field visits etc.

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the students for being admitted in to the Department of Botany for master’s programme. Being one of the most valuable assets of the Department, I wish you all to become the most precious gems of the world.  Here we aspire to provide our students with an effective education and expertise in the field of advance technical experience to produce and implement the greatest form of academic brilliance. This being achieved by offering a diverse selection of courses taught by talented and energetic faculty members who are enriched with knowledge and continuously working in their respective research field, have published their research works and also being actively involved in socio-academic activities. The Department is equipped with all basic as well as some advanced laboratory instruments to facilitate the ease of experiments for the students.  

I would like to inspire you that you should think about spending your time and energy in the best efficiency to develop your skills and to attain excellency in your overall personality development. I sincerely hope you all will dedicate yourself to serve your society, nation and humanity and make all of us proud. I wish you all a positive and healthy stay in the Department.
