Established in 2014, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University (CBLU) has made remarkable beginning and continues to focus on initiatives such as development of modern curriculum meeting the needs of industry and larger objectives of education, building research culture, engagement with students and other stakeholders, staffs’ capacity building programmes, collaborations with reputed organisations and industry, construction of a state-of-the-art new campus building, offering new academic programmes and multi-disciplinary courses to widen students’ perspective and carrying out of cultural and sports activities on a larger scale for holistic development of the students. These initiatives are in line with the realization of the vision of the University to have the capacity to transform the society and be instrumental in its socio-economic transformation.

The CBLU community firmly believes that route for any fundamental change in the society is education, therefore, we are creating forums, facilities, and environment so as to enable the students to learn and develop critical thinking, teamwork, learning of information technologies, inter-personal skills, practical skills, empathy, and ethical perspective to smoothly sail through the challenges of professional and personal life.

In a knowledge-driven society and an integrated world, ideas and creativity matter. We feel Universities are the ideal place where young minds can be nurtured for this purpose. Providing ample opportunities to students to explore and express themselves at fora such as engaged discussion in classrooms, industry & community-linked research projects, participation in seminars, workshops, competitive events, and different curricular & extra-curricular activities is what we presently are doing and intend to do on a larger scale.

To enhance our capacity to serve different sections of society better, we intend to forge and strengthen our linkages with stakeholders and leading organizations at local, national

and global levels. A beginning has already been made by having MOUs with Zoological Survey of India for training and research at Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata to faculty and students and Siksha Sanskriti Uthan Nyas for training in Vedic Mathematics and Personality Development & Character Building.

If a university has to create knowledge and serve the society then it requires to have its strong foundation in research. Realizing this, steps have been initiated to develop a research culture in the University which besides another include; upgrading laboratories for advanced experimentation, partial funding of research and identification of research issues having relevance to industry and local problems. I am happy that prestigious funding agencies like ICSSR, DBT, and ICMR have sanctioned research grants to some of the faculty members for carrying out research in cutting edge areas.

Deepening the usage of ICT by embedding them with teaching and administrative activities for higher learning, transparency and efficiency shall be our endeavour. This shall also be leveraged for monitoring and improving the performance of the affiliating institutions. We firmly believe that an affiliating-cum-teaching university like CBLU can effectively serve the society and emerge as a leading educational institution only when it’s constituting units perform and grow. We are exploring ways and means to strengthen this linkage and create synergies for better outcomes.

As a Vice Chancellor, I am deeply committed for strengthening the values such as freedom of inquiry and creativity, diversity, excellence, prudent management of resources, engaged learning and giving back to society and nation. These are the values on which the foundation of excellence shall be built.

We also understand that the vision of the CBLU to be known for its capacity to transform society through intervention in the domain of higher education is a challenging task to

achieve. However, with the cooperation and support of all stakeholders, we are sure of reaching to our destination.
