The Department of Economics was established in the year 2014 and offers, 2 year Master of Arts (M.A.) Programme in Economics and Ph.D Programme in Economics. The Department prioritizes the holistic development of the students and administers interdisciplinary subjects like Communication Skills.
The classroom instruction is aided by innovative teaching aids like Classroom Activities, Expert Lectures, Workshops and Seminars. Students are motivated to interact and take initiative in the direction of their interest. Such measures not only enhance the theoretical learning experience but also promotes skills like critical thinking and communication.
Department of Economics envisions promoting a research culture among students by encouraging them to undertake Research Projects, Project Dissertations, and Presentations to make meaningful contributions to Economic Knowledge.
Economics as a subject matter is of great contemporary significance, as it deals with ever-evolving markets and scenarios and plays a crucial role in influencing society and its development. The activities undertaken are also aimed at encouraging the students to explore and evaluate various contemporary economic issues and develop a broad horizon of understanding.
I believe that institutional success is a result of collective efforts and the Department encourage students to actively participate in the departmental activities, seek guidance from faculty members, and make the most of the opportunities available to them, while our efforts are directed towards providing a conducive learning environment. Together, we can create an inclusive and stimulating academic community that nurtures talent, fosters innovation, and prepares our students to become leaders and change-makers in the field of economics.
Best wishes for your academic pursuits!
