WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
M.Sc. programme consisting of four semesters was started in 2014 with an intake of 40 students. The department has Computer laboratories installed with modern software like LATEX, MATLAB, SPSS, MINITAB, C++ and experienced and qualified faculty members. The Department of Mathematics is pioneering in the most modern subjects like mathematics with computers and Industrial mathematics. Apart from the regular classes and practical’s the organization of workshops, seminars, conferences and guest lectures are also the distinctive features of the department for the proper grooming of the students. Our passed-out students are providing public and professional services in different areas. The department successfully keeps up with the high-end requirements of the industry and focuses on the professional development of the students. From session 2019-2020, the department offers a Ph.D. programme in Applied Mathematics, especially in Theoretical Seismology. The Department is also running its own departmental library with books sponsored by
the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM), India. The department is also offering the subject of Vedic Mathematics as an open elective course for the students of other departments.

Dual Degree B.Sc(Hons) Mathematics-M.Sc(Mathematics)(3+2 years)
From the session 2022-2023, the Department is going to start Dual Degree B.Sc(Hons)Mathematics-M.Sc ( Mathematics) of five years with eligibility 10+2 with Mathematics as main subject.

Vedanga Jyotisha explains the importance of Mathematics among Sciences that Like the crest of the peacock, like the gem on the head of a snake, so is Mathematics at the head of all Knowledge.

Department of Mathematics has started functioning from July 2014. The Department offers 2-years M.Sc(Mathematics) course and Certificate Course in Vedic Mathematics. The objective of the Department is to transform young students into competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge, create an atmosphere which encourages research, clear thinking and determination among students by imparting quality education, cater to the emerging needs of all the students for their overall development by introducing relevant courses. To foster thinking skills among the students as logical thinkers, enabling them to function as productive citizens and prepare them well for their Scientific and Social life.

The faculty of the department are actively engaged in diverse fields of mathematical research in pure, applied and statistics. Mathematics is a deeply interconnected subject and Carl Fridrich Gauss rightly said , “Mathematics is the queen of all  sciences.”
