As the media and communication sector becomes ever more diverse and dynamic, degrees in the field of media and communication studies are also growing in popularity. Read our guide to see if this could be the right subject area for you, and to find out about the different specializations and careers paths you could pursue. Did you have your own blog, Twitter account and Pinterest board before most people even knew what those words meant? Are you fascinated by the way a news story gains momentum, an image or video goes viral, or the whole process that goes into getting an idea from script to screen? If any of these applies to you, then you may be heading for a media and communication degree. This relatively young academic discipline once had a lot to prove, but in today’s media-dominated cultural landscape, media and communications have become some of the most relevant, exciting and powerful subjects you could choose to study. We are committed to exploring the ways in which media and communications connect us with the world and how these relationships help shape the societies in which we live. As a student within Media, Film & Journalism Studies, you'll develop critical thinking skills. You'll apply your broad-based understanding of communication in ways that better your own life and in the broader community in which you live. You'll cultivate a curiosity for personal creativity and sharpen your analytical and artistic literacy. The department of Media and Communication Studies was established in 2014 since the inception of the University. The Department offers two years (four semesters) M.A. program with 30 seats
The Department of Media and Communication Studies was established in the year 2014. We believe in the potential of the media as a tool for integral development. This remains the guiding factor in our striving for professional excellence.
We focus that mastering one's craft is only one aspect of media training. It is as important to recognise how issues such as those of culture, class, race, gender and ideology influence the creation and the 'reading' of any media text.
The faculty has well-qualified and trained professionals. Course content is updated at regular intervals keeping the students abreast with the latest developments and trends at national & international levels in the field of mass communication.
Regular workshops and seminars are also conducted for the same. The department has its own library and well-equipped computer and media lab which add to the all-round development of the students in the said programme.
