The group discussion, seminar, self-study, presentation etc. are essential components of this course to enhance understanding of the subject in depth to tackle problems independently and to adapt them to accept the new challenges in the thrust area of molecular biology, parasitology, biodiversity, Ecology etc. in present scenario. In addition to this organization of workshops, seminars, conferences, extension lectures, educational tour and interaction with eminent persons are other important activities held in the Department for grooming of the students. Passed out students are providing Public and Professional services in different area. They turn out to be professionally skilled and able to being absorbed in academics, research institutions etc. Our department consists of 5 faculty members, 50 students of masters including both previous and final year and 6 Ph.D. scholars. Members of the department are working hard to make its recognition at National-International levels and encouraging students to build their career and achieving great heights in future. Highly enthusiastic and intelligent students of the departments participated in various competitions and won several prizes. Students also qualify national level research exam and received fellowships. Students after completing their masters are getting good jobs in different organizations. The faculties are involved in the research projects and publishing their research work inside the journal of national and international repute.
Department of Zoology, since its inception, committed for quality research and teaching. Deep understanding of the subject, clearing concepts and an overall innovative way of teaching is our priority. Research is focused on developing biologically safe, simple and effective ways to control diseases, improving human health and managing environmental waste. Students are our gems, in order to make them bright, fit for society and able to take challenges, we are motivating them to use their intellectual power so that they can become problem solvers and job providers.
It is a new era where science requires greater exposure and knowledge of other fields as well. Organizing events such as conferences and workshops, conducting tours and visiting different places like museums, wild life sanctuaries and research institutes helps students to broader their thinking and find ways to sharpen their careers. Contests, quizzes, seminars, cultural activities are some of the regularly organized events conducted by the department. All these activities develop confidence, management skills, social development and exchange of thought. This is important for the holistic development of a student who is being prepared to give back to society and the overall contribution towards national development.
Being Head of the department, I encourage teachers and students to give their hundred percent for the betterment of the department. Students have great potential and I wish them success in the future.
