Department of Information and Communication Technology

The Department of Information and Communication Technology was established in 2019 to prepare next-gen IT professionals who are competent enough to take up industry challenges effectively. The department intends to provide cutting-edge education ranging from expertise in traditional software development to modern computing technologies. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, industry-aligned curriculum and association with top IT companies to provide students education which meets the need of the industry.
From the academic session 2019-20, M.Sc. (Computer Science) programme has been launched with an intake of 30 students. The programme was started with three specializations of Data Analytics, Cyber Security and Networking keeping in mind the current requirements and scope of the Information Technology and to acquaint students with the latest concept of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things.
An exit scheme for students of M.Sc. Computer Science has been implemented w.e.f. 2020-2021 in which a student of M.Sc. Computer Science (2-Year) of the University Teaching Department and Affiliated Colleges of the University may exit the programme after completion of the first year in all respect and after that, he/she may be granted a One-year diploma certificate i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA). The programme of such candidate may be considered as Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA).

The Department of Information and Communication Technology has been doing continuously consistent improvement in its academic, research and placement performance. It offers a range of innovatively designed programs whose curriculum is constantly updated to meet the changing requirement of the IT industry and to meet the needs of stakeholders. 

During study at the department, the students are encouraged to get hands-on experience in the corporate world by visiting IT companies. In their curriculum, they are encouraged to take up mini projects to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical experience. They also undertake projects benefiting local industries or dealing with local problems. These projects enable them to understand the relevance of working in a group and also help them to realize the finer aspects and importance of teamwork.

Department believes that the students passed from here have been well accepted in their job profiles and have consistently exceeded expectations of the corporate world.

We also believe that one finds our students hardworking, practical-oriented and effective in any work environment. We have designed our syllabus to strike a balance between professional knowledge and personal skills. We are confident that our current curriculum has enabled the overall development of IT skills to come up with the expectations of the corporate world.

The curriculum is taught by a distinguished faculty combining academic excellence and real-world experience with dedication and commitment. Time to time, the extension lectures from the Academic experts and professional experts from the IT companies are conducted for overall development of the students.

We are encouraged to see many industries coming back to our department, which reinforces our belief in the effectiveness of our curriculum and its suitability to meet the dynamic corporate world.

Course: PG Diploma in Computer Applications

Duration : 1 Year

Course Type : Post Graduation

PG Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) is a PG level one-year diploma programme started from session 2020-21. Candidates who have completed a relevant Bachelor’s Degree programme can take admission in PGDCA admission. On course completion, successful candidates will obtain a PG Diploma certificate. This programme covers an in-depth approach towards computer applications and allied areas such as – computer programming, internet technology, programming languages, networking, database management, software development, information technology etc.
A promotion scheme of students of PGDCA has been implemented w.e.f. 2020-2021, in which a student of Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) of University Teaching Department and Affiliated colleges of the University can pursue 2-Year M.Sc. Computer Science programme after completing the first year of PGDCA if he/she desires and after that he/she may be promoted to 2nd Year of M.Sc. Computer Science provided that the student must have passed 1st semester examination. After completion of the programme, M.Sc. Computer Science (2-Year) degree may be granted to the student.

Course: PG Diploma in Cyber Security and Law

Duration : 1 Year

Course Type : Post Graduation

PG Diploma in Cyber Security and Law is started from session 2021-22. The objective of the programme is to provide an overview of Cyber Security issues, tools and techniques that is critical in solving problems in cyber security domains; to learn the concepts of computer security, cryptography, digital money, secure protocols, detection and other security techniques including protecting Information, Systems, IT infrastructure, analysing and monitoring potential threats and attacks, devising security architecture and implementing security solutions. After completion of this course, the students will be able to understand, design and implement appropriate security technologies and policies to protect computers and digital information.

Graduation with 50% marks (47.50% in case of SC / ST / Blind / Visually/ Differently Abled etc. candidates) with Mathematics as one of the subject.

Course Type : Post Graduation

PG Diploma in Data Science and Machine Learning is started from session 2021-22. The objective of the programme is to introduce data science principles required to tackle data-rich problems in business and academia, including: Statistical Interference, Machine Learning, Machine Learning algorithms, Classification techniques, Decision Tree, Clustering, Recommender Engines, Text Mining & Time series; to gain knowledge of the entire life cycle of Data Science, analyze and visualize different data sets, different Machine Learning Algorithms like K-Means Clustering. Decision Trees, etc.
