History gives you an insight into the forces that have shaped our world and ourselves. History is one of the fastest-growing disciplines at CBLU, with an expanding range of papers encompassing a variety of topics. We offer world-class teaching and study options that are exciting and rewarding. The Department of History researches, teaches, and publishes locally, nationally, and internationally. You can study different cultures, regions, themes, and time periods to appreciate the lives and experiences of people in the past. You can also understand how societies have changed over time. This department was established in the year 2014 with the aim of providing a deeper understanding of history and archaeology with practical training. Currently, the department offers sixty seats (60) at the PG level. The range of teaching includes Archaeology, Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian History. The Department has organized many extension lectures and exploration tours. One student of the Department got selected for the prestigious Republic Day Parade. Apart from this, many students have qualified NET Exam and got selected for various state Govt. services.
Historians spend a lot of time thinking about the ways that today’s world echoes the past, both in the context of our own lives and far longer spans.
Welcome to the Department of History at Chaudhary Bansi Lal University. We are a community of faculty, staff, Post Graduate students, dedicated to understanding and explaining how and why things change. We study the history of places from India to Africa, China, and beyond; we analyse events from thousands of years ago through the present day.
We are researchers who write books and articles and build archives of original historical sources. Fundamentally, we focus on three elements, or skills: historical context, research, and oral/verbal communication. Each skill represents a constitutive element of the overall objective of the History degree. First, we want to introduce you to the study of History by providing you with a contextual grounding. Our course listing is diverse enough to enable you to study the history of whatever interests you.
The department implemented online teaching in the face of COVID19 to facilitate the teaching-learning process; hopefully, in future online mode would complement classroom experience. Learning Outcome-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) approach is employed to structure the teaching-learning experience in a more student-centric manner. An attempt is made to engage students with multiple perspectives on various historical themes and to enable them to analyse those perspectives critically. The exploration of past issues and of historical processes help students acquire necessary tools to tease out the underlying socio-political significations of the present and the past, of the mundane as well as the extraordinary.
Throughout the academic session, experts from various fields of History as well as related disciplines are regularly invited to make presentations in the department so as to let the students and the faculty engage with the best and the latest in social scientific research. After graduating, they go on to successful careers in the academic, NGO, private, and public sectors.
We invite you to explore our website, drop by our offices, take History classes, and join our public colloquia, lectures, and panels, where you will find an inclusive learning community committed to anti-racism, decolonization, and Indigenization.
